LGBQT+ Affirming Therapy
I offer LGBTQIA2+ affirming therapy in Anchorage, Alaska, for individuals navigating identity, relationships, trauma, and the impact of living in systems that haven’t always made space for you.
I'm queer and largely unattached to rigid concepts of gender. If you're reading this, there's a good chance you are too and if not, that's okay.
Therapy should be a place where you don't have to defend who you are.
You may know that nothing is wrong with you but the way the world responds to you can absolutely shape how you experience yourself. Many people carry the impact of invalidation, rejection, subtle or overt harm, or years of feeling like they had to hide parts of who they are to stay safe or accepted.
That can show up as anxiety, self-doubt, difficulty trusting yourself, challenges in relationships, or feeling disconnected from your identity altogether.
Therapy isn’t about changing who you are. It’s about creating space to understand yourself more fully, untangle what’s yours versus what was placed on you.
Some of the things we might explore include:
- Identity exploration (gender, sexuality, or both)
- Internalized shame or self-criticism
- Coming out (or choosing not to)
- Relationship dynamics and attachment patterns
- Family-of-origin experiences
- Religious or cultural trauma
- Navigating systems that don’t feel safe or affirming
I'm committed to creating a safe, affirming space for folks in targeted communities. I'm also happy to offer referrals to other queer-affirming therapists if we're not the right fit.
